John Cena has officially completed one of the last remaining milestones of his legendary WWE career. After more than two decades at the top of the company, the 17-time World Champion captured the WWE Intercontinental Title for the first time — an achievement that now places him among WWE’s Grand Slam Champions.

For 23 years, Cena built his legacy around major championship victories, including a record-setting 17 world title reigns. Along the way, he also picked up five United States Championships and four Tag Team Title reigns with partners such as The Miz, David Otunga, Shawn Michaels, and Batista.

Cena’s long-awaited Intercontinental Title win came during his emotional farewell appearance on WWE Raw in his hometown of Boston. In an unplanned match, he defeated Dominik Mysterio to finally claim the championship that had eluded him throughout his storied career.

Cena Describes the Moment: “There Was Magic in the Air”

Speaking on ESPN’s First Take, Cena reflected on the historic win and the energy inside TD Garden.

“It felt incredible. I usually don’t have the best luck wrestling in Boston — normally I get beat up pretty good,” he joked. “But knowing it was my last time there, something just felt different. There was magic in the air, and I warned the guy stepping up to me that it wasn’t the right night to pick a fight.”

Cena added that the victory “rounded out the Grand Slam,” completing one of the most prestigious checklists in WWE history.

Cena’s Final WWE Raw Appearance Ahead

Cena is scheduled for one final appearance on Monday Night Raw, live from Madison Square Garden in New York City. With Survivor Series approaching on November 29, the show is expected to feature several major WWE names alongside Cena.

Following Raw, Cena is expected to compete at Survivor Series and then appear in what is reportedly his final match — a retirement bout set for Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13. He will face the winner of the “Last Time Is Now” Tournament in what promises to be a historic send-off.
